科學(xué)的飼養(yǎng)管理是養(yǎng)好長(zhǎng)毛兔的關(guān)鍵。我們蒙陰長(zhǎng)毛兔（長(zhǎng)毛兔之鄉(xiāng)-蒙陰長(zhǎng)毛兔）實(shí)踐證明，如果飼養(yǎng)管理不當(dāng)，即使有和種兔、豐富的飼料、 合適的籠舍，也得不到良好的飼養(yǎng)效果和經(jīng)濟(jì)效益。但是要想養(yǎng)好長(zhǎng)毛兔，必須根據(jù)長(zhǎng)毛兔的習(xí)性和行為，在飼養(yǎng)管理過(guò)程中，注意以下基本原則：

　　長(zhǎng)毛兔生長(zhǎng)快，繁殖力強(qiáng)，體內(nèi)代謝旺盛，加之生產(chǎn)兔毛需要各種營(yíng)養(yǎng)與代謝過(guò)程。所以，飼喂長(zhǎng)毛兔的飼料不僅要注意營(yíng)養(yǎng)物質(zhì)的數(shù)量，還要考慮到質(zhì)量，要強(qiáng)調(diào)飼料的合理搭配，嚴(yán)禁用單一飼料飼喂長(zhǎng)毛兔。俗話說(shuō)“若要兔子好，飼喂百樣草”。

　　長(zhǎng)毛兔為草食動(dòng)物，飼料應(yīng)以草料為主，精料為輔。據(jù)試驗(yàn)，沒(méi)有草光有料是養(yǎng)不好長(zhǎng)毛兔的，一般青粗飼料應(yīng)占全部日糧50%~70%。長(zhǎng)毛兔采食青粗飼料的數(shù)量，大致為本身體重的10%~30%。

　　長(zhǎng)毛兔對(duì)飼料的選擇比較嚴(yán)格，合理調(diào)制可明顯提高飼料的適口性和消化率。生產(chǎn)實(shí)踐證明，要想養(yǎng)好長(zhǎng)毛兔，還必須注意飼草、飼料的品質(zhì)。做到以下“十不喂”：一不喂霉?fàn)€、變質(zhì)飼料；二不喂帶泥沙、糞污的飼料；三不喂帶雨、露水的青綠飼料；四不喂帶農(nóng)藥等毒 物污染的飼料；五不喂冰凍飼料；六不喂發(fā)芽馬鈴薯和帶黑斑病的甘薯；七不喂未經(jīng)蒸煮或焙烤的豆類(lèi)飼料； 八不喂有毒植物；九不喂大量牛皮菜、菠菜等；十不喂大量紫云英等青綠飼料。

　　兔子膽小，一旦受驚或受追捕、轉(zhuǎn)群等應(yīng)激因素的影響，就會(huì)引起精神不安，食欲減退，甚患病死亡。為保持安靜，保證長(zhǎng)毛兔的正常生長(zhǎng)和生產(chǎn)，必須注意三點(diǎn)：一是兔舍必須保持安靜；二是為防止疾病傳染， 兔場(chǎng)應(yīng)謝絕參觀，非兔舍管理人員嚴(yán)禁入內(nèi)；三是籠舍應(yīng)每天打掃，及時(shí)糞便，定期洗刷飼具，，保持衛(wèi)生。
